The Roederer Brut Premier, from industry experts Roederer, makes for the ideal aperitif for fish and shellfish. Elegant in its structure and composed of one-third Chardonnay and two-thirds Pinots – including 10% to 15% Pinot Meunier – the Roederer Brut Premier 75cl is a marvellous blend of 4 years of harvest – 3 of them originating from the collection of Louis Roederer reserve wines that have benefited from an oak cask maturation period for 2 to 5 years. With the Brut Premier by Roederer, it's all about proportions.
In this bottle, the amount of reserve wines vary depending on the year, and this can be anything from 6% to a fuller 10%. Thanks to this care, the wine has a dependable average age of 3 years. In appearance, the Roederer Premier has a lightly browned delicate dress.
The beadwork is fine and persistent and the bouquet is rich and subtle – hints of hawthorn, almonds and toast all discernible. The attack is creamy and makes itself instantly known on the palate. With the reserve wines adding fundamental complexity, the result is a vinous roundness that is highly characteristic of Louis Roederer. Finally, a balance has been struck for the Roederer Brut champagne –the structure and fruity-zing of Pinot Black and the sleek finesse of Chardonnay – between the wines that is most noteworthy.
