Since 1923 – or thereabouts – the House of Janisson have been delivering Champagne of the highest order. This may sound like the kind of thing you read every day, but what separates Janisson from the other houses is their tremendous sense of tradition and history. While many houses have appeared in the last few years – many partnerships of several houses which have joined together for commercial advantage – the House of Janisson have remained pure and entirely true to their roots. And like we said, it all starts with the history...
It was Manuel Janisson's Grandfather who spearheaded the brand's production in the very beginning. Driven to produce his own custom blends, what started off as a small operation in Verzenay, France, quickly turned from passion into a reputable business – one which would leave a firm mark on every member of the family, who quickly learned to love Champagne and made it their mission to continue its production.
As a boy, Manuel saw every aspect of Champagne production and absorbed this information with enthusiasm and vigour. And, sure enough, what began as fun soon turned into a job which the boy embraced – a knowledge-base that saw him gain a valuable understanding of everything from vineyard management to selling Champagne on the competitive commercial market.
By the 1990s, Manuel was a Champagne force to be reckoned with, and then, at the perfect time, came the opportunity to progress his brand and make it even more worthy of his Grandfather's approval. It was with progress in mind that he built a winery of some distinction and also sought to buy more land which would act as the driving-force behind the growing business.
Now, in the new millennium, Janisson Champagne is really making its imprint on the world of alcoholic commerce. Along with his wife, Marie-Eve, Manuel continues to create award-worthy bubbly which is enjoyed all over the world, including in the USA.
